“Louisiana Cooperative Marine Sportfish Tagging Program” is a volunteer based, fish tagging program, to improve the understanding of marine fish patterns and habitat use. Volunteer anglers, or “Citizen Scientists,” are introduced to more qualitative or “scientific” methods for reporting their tag and recapture information. The more precise the data will yield information that can be used in measuring the populations of the fish. Citizen scientists provide information that is difficult, expensive, and often impossible to obtain by other means. Currently, the program has more than 210,000 fish tagged by 5,000 anglers and nearly 9,000 recaptures. Click here to be a Citizen Scientist!
